Amy Bernstein, LCSW-R, SEP

I am a body-oriented psychotherapist in private practice in NYC and in Irvington, NY.

I have deep reverence for people who engage in inner work. It is through our pain that we find doorways to freedom and nothing takes more courage than revisiting these ghosts. My aim is to be an unwavering ally in my client’s journey to gain freedom from the complaints that brought them in. I believe there are many ways to engage inner work, and once we are in, there are many roads that can take us home.

My approach is informed by my post-graduate studies in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, biodynamic craniosacral work, eating disorder and harm reduction addiction treatment, yoga and mindfulness trainings and practice.

I earned my master’s degree from the Silberman School of Social work at Hunter College and my undergraduate degree from Cornell University.

In a previous iteration of life, I had a career in finance: first as a high yield debt analyst for investment banks, and then in commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions where I bought and sold retail properties for a large publicly traded real estate investment trust.

I am a partner, a mother, a maker, and a lifelong learner. I love to explore the mysteries of existence through meditation, self-inquiry, and frequent contact with the natural world. I have maintained a daily meditation and inquiry practice for more than fifteen years, and I continue to develop and grow through my own inner work and through my personal and professional engagement with others.
